Unclaimed Deposits/Inoperative Accounts

Reserve Bank of India has advised Banks to display the list of unclaimed deposits / inoperative accounts which are Unclaimed/ inoperative/ for ten years or more.

The bank has placed this list to trace the customers linked with unclaimed/inoperative accounts
The list contains the Savings Bank /Current accounts that are inactive for over Ten years
In case at any point of time you or any person for whose estate you are the legal heir, had an account with any branch of Punjab & Sind Bank and have lost the track of account for more than 10 years, you can search your account by Name, village / Town / District.

The minimum information required on each search to pull the records:

1. Name of the Customer

2. Name of the Village/Town/City

In case the account details provided by you finds any matches in the list available then please contact your branch along with the following documents for the activation / closure of the account.

Documents required to be carried along

For individual Account Holders-

  • Two Passport Size Coloured Photograph
  • Proof of Identity and Address – Certified copy of any one of the following officially valid document: (i) Passport (ii) PAN Card (iii) Voter’s Identity Card (iv) Driving License (v) Job card issued by NREGA duly singed by an officer of the State Government (vi) The letter issued by the Unique Identification Authority of
    India (UIDAI) containing details of name, address and Aadhaar number (vii) Aadhaar numbers and PANs or Form 60 as defined in the Income-Tax rules 1962 and where an Aadhaar number has not been assigned, proof of application towards enrolment for Aadhaar.
    (i) Where ‘simplified measures’ are applied for verifying the identity of the clients the following documents shall be deemed to be OVD:
    (a) Identity card with applicant’s Photograph issued by Central/ State Government Departments, Statutory/ Regulatory Authorities, Public Sector Undertakings, Scheduled Commercial Banks, and Public Financial Institutions;
    (b) Letter issued by a gazetted officer, with a duly attested photograph of the person.
    (ii) Where ‘simplified measures’ are applied for verifying for the limited purpose of proof of address the following additional documents are deemed to be OVDs :
    (a) Utility bill which is not more than two months old of any service provider (electricity, telephone, post-paid mobile phone, piped gas, water bill);
    (b) Property or Municipal Tax receipt;
    (c) Bank account or Post Office savings bank account statement
    (d) Pension or family pension payment orders (PPOs) issued to retired employees by Government Departments or Public Sector Undertakings, if they contain the address;
    (e) Letter of allotment of accommodation from employer issued by State or Central Government departments, statutory or regulatory bodies, public sector undertakings, scheduled commercial banks, financial institutions and listed companies Similarly, leave and license agreements with such employers allotting official
    accommodation; and
    (f) Documents issued by Government departments of foreign jurisdictions and letter issued by Foreign Embassy or Mission in India. 

For Entities

The documents for individuals related to such entities, as explained above. Further guidance on documentation shall be provided by the branch concerned.

Should any of these accounts belong to a deceased person, and the claim can be lodged by the Nominee or the legal heirs as the case may be, who should visit the concerned branch along with his/her ID/Address/other documents related to account as mentioned above. Further guidance shall be provided at the branch. All such cases shall be settled as per Bank's guidelines w.r.t. Settlement of Death Claims.

There are no charges for claiming the unclaimed/inoperative accounts. Grievance if any shall be resolved as per Bank's policy on Grievance Redressal, displayed on this website
